What is your worth?

I’d like you to use your imagination for this one. 

Imagine that every human (and animal) is born with a beautiful, glowing white light, where their heart is. 

This light is your worth.  Everything that’s good in our existence is within this light: 

  • LOVE 
  • KINDNESS 
  • HAPPINESS 
  • STRENGTH 
  • PASSION 
  • HEALTH 
  • POSITIVITY etc. 

This light (our worth) is a gift that we’re all born with. 

I will give two opposite examples of how our worth could be developed: 

EXAMPLE 1 

A baby is born with her beautiful white light.  She is brought up in a healthy, loving, encouraging environment.  That positive external environment is in alignment with her positive internal self-worth/the beautiful white light. 

She will likely grow into an emotionally balanced, confident woman with a strong sense of self- worth. 

EXAMPLE 2 

A baby is born with her beautiful white light.  She is brought up in an unhealthy, toxic, dangerous or critical environment or without unconditional love.  That negative external environment is not in alignment with her positive internal self-worth/the beautiful white light. 

She will often develop into a woman with low self-esteem, low confidence, low self-worth and a higher risk of anxiety or depression. 

Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule and we all view our own self-worth differently.  We also need to remember that most people are doing the best they can with what they know at the time.  These exercises are to help you understand how self-worth is usually developed and are not to place blame on anyone. 

Growing up, we usually develop our level of self-worth through our external environment and how people treat us.  As adults, it’s important to realise that our self-worth comes from within.  We were all born worthy and we remain worthy, regardless of the opinions of others or even ourselves.
